It's a battle between National League teams as the East's Miami Marlins play the San Francisco Giants at AT&T Park in the MLB. The match is on May 7, 2015 at 10:15 p.m. ET.
Miami are currently fourth in the East with a 13-15 record. They have struggled so far, winning only one of their last four matches – their last against the Philadelphia Phillies and two out of three against the Washington Nationals.
However, they still have a capable team who have players who can perform when needed. Dee Gordon leads the team on Batting Average with .430. Adeiny Hechavarria is second for the team with .308.
Giancarlo Stanton is by far the player with the most Home Runs for the Marlins as he already has seven in the season so far, with the next players on the list only with two with Hechavarria and Michael Morse.
Stanton also leads the team with Runs Batted In with 27, with Hechavarria again as one of the top with 17. They have yet to translate these individual stats into consecutive wins but they will have a chance against a struggling Giants squad.
Sporting a 14-14 record, the Giants are right in the middle of the West and are 3.5 games behind the leaders Los Angeles Dodgers.
Their last two series matches were against the Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim and the San Diego Padres.
They were on a streak of five games after sweeping the Angels and winning the first two matches against the Padres, appearing to be dominating after shutting out their opponents in their last three matches. However, averages caught up with them as in their last game of the series, they lost heavily to the Padres 9-1. As they try to shake that heavy loss, they should focus on the Marlins and win their four-game series.
Brandon Crawford leads the team in Home Runs and Runs Batted In with five and 15, respectively, while Angel Pagan has the best Batting Average with .340.
