  1. Today I'm going to be answering the age-old question. Firefox vs Chrome: Which one uses more RAM?

The answer: both use too much RAM. ;)

@The Benjamins Transmission Qt best ;)

Though I use both Transmission and Deluge because some torrents don't seem to like Transmission because logic

I kinda walk like this lol I don't swing my right arm because I keep it close to defend myself >.>

@XenosTech Same, but I don't swing my arm because I'm holding my phone. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

    4. XenosTech

@PCGuy_5960 lmao my phone is always in my pocket

  3. That's the problem. Geekbench is incredibly inconsistent, they should have used a real benchmark. Geekbench sucks
  4. Honestly, I'm not mad:

PUBG's loot boxes are MUCH better than Battlefront 2's loot boxes, as cosmetic only microtransactions do not affect gameplay and this loot box system is better than paid DLC IMO, because it doesn't split the player base. -_-

Loot boxes, just like everything else, is a tool, one that can be abused, but also used in a positive way.

To be frank, I don't like lootboxes just because they can prey on those that have gambling tendencies.

Another question is whether the lootbox ends up messing with the game's RNG.  Making the game's RNG less favorable would make lootboxes more tantalizing after all.

To be frank, I don't give a damn if it's cosmetic or not.  If cosmetics don't affect your enjoyment of the game, then that's great.

But if cosmetics didn't affect one's enjoyment, then there wouldn't be so many people that end up spending the time to unlock extra costumes for their character.

Hell, they wouldn't be put into lootboxes in the first place, if people didn't enjoy them.

Making the loot from lootboxes only cosmetic makes it so someone can't buy an advantage, which is good.

It doesn't address the issues that I have stated though.

Lootboxes have to be handled very carefully.  Will PUBG do that?

I have no idea, but so far they seem to be handling things OK.

    3. <Aleks>

I think this is bullshit as some cosmetics do change the game. When the game was new(ish) I used to use dark clothes and run with no backpack, in 3rd person I'd lay down in the circle with a shotgun and people would run right past me. Then I got easy kills.

Meanwhile using the yellow tracksuit stood out so much could barely hide in smaller circles.

    4. Chaos_Sorcerer

      @Damascus It's the EA copypasta.

  5. FINALLY! Although, I'm not going to give YouTube any credit for this, as they only did this because of the backlash they received. -_-

The squeaky wheels get the grease.

Let's talk about Pewdiepie for a moment though.  The fact that Logan seems to be getting punished at the same level as Pewdiepie kinda bothers me.

While i'm not in the "remove Logan Paul's account" camp, if YouTube views that Pewdiepie's actions are just as bad.  Well, they are beyond reasoning.

I'm not defending Pewdiepie's actions though.  His Nazi joke and his racial outburst was distasteful, but not nearly to the same level as filming a corpse, not even close.

I ended up seeing more of Logan's content, and I have come to the conclusion that he is a spoiled brat that was never punished for anything.

This opinion was further enforced when I heard what his father had to say.  His father's response kinda reminded me of Mat Pat's responses to those that tried to debate his theories, "they're all haters".

Criticism is very important, as it is the best way one can learn from their mistakes.  I would be willing to forgive Logan Paul's actions (not forget) if he was willing to take this as a learning experience and try to improve himself as a result.

I have doubts that will ever happen when he is surrounded with his family though.

    3. techstorm970

@Cinnabar Sonar I agree with you.  Yes, Nazi jokes are distasteful and racist bullshit is awful, but that can sometimes be boiled down to hanging out with the wrong crowd.  That stuff can be turned around with support groups and...finding better friends, I guess.  Treating suicide like it's a joke?  That takes more.  To go with our previous example, you have to be with the wrong crowd AND legitimately sick in the head to be that way.  What Logan Paul did in that forest isn't just an embarrassment for him; it's an embarrassment for all of humanity.  It's the kind of thing that would probably make any aliens think of us as parasites rather than just idiots.  I would much rather send a "D*cks out for Harambe" meme (which I hate) to extraterrestrials than Logan Paul's visit to the Suicide Forest.

    4. Cinnabar Sonar

      Cinnabar Sonar

@techstorm970 Logan Paul isn't irredeemable, and his vile little stunt looks tame compared to those that actively try to harm others (such as swatting).

Hardly the worst example of humanity.

That's not to say that what he did isn't inexcusable, just that I have seen much MUCH worse.

He should be held accountable for his actions, and be disciplined.  But I always believe in redemption.

Whether he seeks redemption or not is up to him, and it's up to the individual to forgive him, and I don't blame anyone for not forgiving him.

  6. "We acted accordingly" lol, what? By putting the video on trending? So off the mark it's not even funny
  7. OK, YouTube is retarded, "we acted accordingly"? lmao, what? By putting the video on trending? Suuuuure. 9_9

    On a completely unrelated note:

EA is also retarded. I feel bad for the devs.

Me slamming YouTube on twitter gets more and more justified by the day.

I really hope that Floatplane becomes a viable alternative.  While I personally don't know Linus, I know that he has more integrity then these asshats.

I will somewhat repeat what I said to YouTube.  While I do consider YouTubing a real job, those that say it isn't have a point.  Most "normal" jobs give some level of protection, such as unemployment or a union.

What's going to happen when adpocalypse 4.0 happens?  Will YouTube help protect those that are affected?

I think we all know the answers to these questions, and the fact that YouTube MANUALLY REVIEWED THE VIDEO, and put it in trending shows just how much they care about their small users.  They will willingly throw them under the bus to appease the few on top.

Their actions disgusted me far more then Logan Paul did.  They were willing to jeopardize everyone else so they can appease their "golden child".

      Fuck em.

    3. bob51zhang

Most "normal" jobs give some level of protection, such as unemployment or a union.

Youtubers, like many professionals, are self-employed. And a byproduct of that is having little job security.

But I completely agree Youtube is a dick.

    4. Cinnabar Sonar

      Cinnabar Sonar

@bob51zhang The only problem with that, is most who are self employed don't need to give a large portion of their potential income to a large corporation.

And then having said corporation throw them under the bus to appease the few fat cats.

With that said, i'm glad that Patreon exists.

  8. Damn it Microsoft, get your shit together

This is why I'm not going to install any of the patches until they fix those issues. -_-

@Cinnabar Sonar Well, you're using a Threadripper CPU, which isn't an Athlon or even a year old (not to mention that it's a freaking laser shark of a chip).  Most of the processors they're talking about were made before 2010.  In my opinion, a lot of these people already needed some sort of upgrade.  It was only a matter of time before those Athlons would hit the end of the road.

Although...can I expect a drop in the performance of my i5-7200u with this update?  I heard some stuff about IPC reductions a week or two ago.

    3. Tech_Dreamer

the patch itself became a bigger burden to the user than the vulnerability is to the system.

    4. PCGuy_5960

      @techstorm970 It's not an Athlon-only problem though :S

it won't be just Athlons, there are others on the Microsoft answers forum complaining of similar issues with intel,  but so far some have been able to start in safe mode and uninstall the update then block and restart.

As for the drop in performance:

      Nope ;)

      @Tech_Dreamer So true!

  9. Yeah boii! I hope that they manage to save Net Neutrality, so that Ajit Pai can wipe that smirk off his face.
  10. Holy shit, AMD is fast! I hope that they will be able to hit 4.5GHz. (or more)

Ben Swolo Memes are the best memes

  12. YouTube's favoritism is starting to get out of hand -_- So it looks like Logan Paul, before his infamous video in the suicide forest, was acting like an idiot and was disrespecting Japanese culture:

YouTube, please, stop supporting these guys,

YouTube has been demonetizing good content creators for a long time now and praising people like Paul brothers because they make them good money, I sometimes wish that they'd go bankrupt so people have the chance to make a good and fair platform for content creators.

When he released that video I honestly did not believe that someone would be so shallow to show a suicide (especially when his fan base is so young), I saw the video and it has an ad on it meanwhile small YouTubes get fucked for the smallest details.

    3. wkdpaul

@PCGuy_5960 to me it seems like it's a problem we've seen elsewhere that is being repeated here (Harvey Weinstein, Jerry Sandusky, etc...) as long as the guy making trouble is making tons of money, the people above don't care. When they'll start to loose more money than it's worth, they'll throw him under the bus. Until then, we're stuck with that moron.

If he would have done this anywhere else, he would have gotten decked.

  13. Well, this is interesting:

TBH, I don't get the point of AMD's Platform Security Processor and Intel's Management Engine. I get that they can be useful, but both of them don't seem very safe. I mean, new vulnerabilities are found all the time, so I wish they just stopped adding these things to their CPUs. -_-

    1. Red Hardware

      Red Hardware

They do provide some sort of security so we can say they are useful but every protection can have problems too, we can't just say "it's better to remove the security because it has problems from time to time." but i think AMD and Intel need to pay more attention and do more R&D on security stuff

    2. Septimus

I believe that Intel's ME was added because the CIA or another similar US government agency wanted to be able to access computers with ease.

  14. Another video that confirms that this Windows patch doesn't affect performance:

But this patch bricked his Windows installation, so maybe it's a good thing that I didn't install this update because I don't feel like reinstalling Windows. xD

My Steam server got the update; no performance degradation. I'm with @Princess Cadence on this one. A tester found a 5 to 30% degradation depending on workload and yet everyone focused on the 30% loss when it only applied to two of the results and consumers will very rarely use such programs.

    3. PCGuy_5960

*AMD Fanboys focused on the 30% loss, because they wanted top prove that Intel is bad ;)

      I bet that this vulnerability:

is going to be swept under the rug simply because it's AMD.

    4. DocSwag

It seems to me that this doesn't matter much for the average user. It really only matters for servers. Which is good for AMD, because this could help Epyc's market penetration A LOT, but for us doesn't matter that much.
