PETG is about 70% of polycarbonate's strength when it comes to impact resistance.

PETG also has insane tensile strength, while also having more flex then ABS.

I have successfully printed PETG before (that's what I used for my sun adapter for the camera during the solar eclipse).

It's just that it wears down the printer's nozzle very fast (the required temperature for printing PETG is rather high, thus it tends to wear down the nozzle's insulator tube rather fast).

While this is the ideal material, I have to charge extra just because PETG is more expensive, and it wears my printer down faster.

Also, yes, i'm really liking the idea of orange.

@ARikozuM I'm not fully understanding your question.

    3. ARikozuM

I’m assuming the hinge clamps onto the earcups. Isn’t PETG too rigid to be a good choice of material?

    4. Cinnabar Sonar

      Cinnabar Sonar

@ARikozuM PETG is more flexible then PLA and ABS.

The "G" at the end is glycol (Glycol-Modified Polyethylene Terephthalate), which gives it more flex.

All and all, PETG is supposed to have better mechanical properties, but be a bit softer.

I'm also getting orange ABS so I can compare.

While this was a very heart filled DM, please never use the word "Bed" as your subject again.

    1. Densetsu

But what if that was the point...

    2. ARikozuM

What you two, or more, do for the privacy of your bed is none of our concern.

But we'll take any juicy details if you have any.

    3. Densetsu

@ARikozuM Nothing I haven't already done to you.

  3. My mom is being frustrating.

So, I feel like the RV would be a good temporary spot for @Ashiella until I find something a bit more permanent.

My mom doesn't want that since she is planning on using it for herself, and wants @Ashiella to live in the shop.

A few problems with that, the shop has a few un-neutered males who spray, also no bed, there is a fucking vehicle in the middle of the goddamn shop.

The toilet is still clogged.  All in all, it's unlivable in it's current state.

Honestly, my mom is pissing me off.  So here's how it's going to work.

I'm going to try making that area livable, including removing the cats.  I have no fucking clue on what to do for a bed, but i'll figure something out.

      including removing the cats

Our Alien Cat Overlords will not be pleased to hear this..

    Black ABS.

While I may just be biased, I think I prefer my design.

Either way, I have much more confidence in ABS, since if has better tensile strength and better flex.

    Not to mention being lighter.

Furthermore, You can do techniques such as acetone smoothing, which would allow for a high gloss finish that's not too much of a fingerprint magnet.

I don't have any acetone to experiment, but that may be nice.

Either way, @Max_Settings, if you are still interested, this will be what it will look like.

Also, @PrometheanCat-1970 I think you still want to be kept in the loop.

I'm kinda wanting to get some orange ABS.  I think that will play nicely with the black.

    Or neon green.

    The black is ABS.

There is some minor warping, but I can work with it.  The ABS will be much more flexible, while also being less brittle.

    Also, the ABS is lighter.

I have experience with CAD, but I’ve only used a 3D printer a handful of times and none of the projects were made by myself.

    3. Densetsu

I printed a cylinder the other day to hold up my GPU in my NCASE M1.

There were so many things I could have used instead, but this felt technologier.

    4. Cinnabar Sonar

      Cinnabar Sonar

@ARikozuM I have created several things.

A sun filter adapter for the solar eclipse.

Adapter spacers for a wall mount.

      Furniture parts in general.

      A bong.

And probably a few more that i'm forgetting.

  6. Alright, I did a slight modification to the holders to the HE 400i.

I gave a 1mm gap at the top, this should allow more flex, and less clamping pressure.

Also, i'm going to test ABS, since that would be superior material.  It's just that ABS has a nasty habit of thermally warping.

I am pretty much in full agreement.

@Windows7ge Our government states that they don't know where they went.

    3. Windows7ge

If the kids are forced over the boarder with their parents there's not much keeping their government from just letting the parents keep their kids once their out of the US. Unless boarder control takes the parents over the boarder then kicks the kids to fend for themselves into the desert.

@Windows7ge After doing some more research, the children are apparently going into foster care.

And the parents are getting arrested.

For once, i'm glad that Valve doesn't give a shit.

    Also, Polygon, shut up.

      “Informative”... and ten days late...

      My disappointment

runs deep, for you it does.

This is probably going to be the final version.

    The tolerances are much better.

It's nice and snug, while having more flex then the original.

Nice and tight (that's what he said).

Although, keep in mind, that particular part there was metal in the original.  Not sure if the plastic will be strong enough to hold on this particular part, but we will see.

    @Max_Settings 5 dollars for a pair?

@PrometheanCat-1970 You are probably wanting to know this as well.

Yes, the headband broke, and I treated it rather well.

    1. ARikozuM

I would charge 11.99 per pair and 28.99 for the whole assembly. You can even offer a heftier price if you’re willing to make a leather jacket for the assembly.

    2. PrometheanCat-1970

@Cinnabar Sonar ... ah, so THAT’S the issue I’ve heard about (with this brand and model). The more expensive models use all steel construction (not brittle plastic [I think you’re right... your media is more flexible]).

This is interesting, a maybe a little sad.  We’re talking about the HiFiMan product line, right?  While their drivers might be good, the headband (and bracket) construction can be so flakey, a cottage industry crops up (like yours) to build replacements. @ARikozuM suggests some interesting prices. I’d pay them.

Thanks for keeping me in the loop, eh. When I have cash to burn in the new year, your post will help me make a smarter decision. O.o

  10. My mom likes to show off my YouTube videos to others.

Well, she stumbled onto one of my more pervy videos with her friend...

I don't think I've seen it before.... If I have I've obviously forgotten as its quite hilarious.

There comes a point in time where one has to ask.

What kind of plastic was Hifiman using?

The PLA is several times stronger, and it's PLA.

Either way, I can sell these for cheap to those who are affected.  I'm not finished yet.

      Cinnabar Sonar

      @Max_Settings Not sure yet.
I'm still refining the design.  It would depend on how much material that's used.

    4. ARikozuM

I have several colors, all in black.

  12. Well, Hifiman just responded.

    That was fucking fast.

  13. I have been eating less as of late.

    Much less.

I mean, i'm hungry, and my stomach is growling.
But I don't have the desire to get some food.  I made steaks for everyone, so all I have to do is grab one.

Meh, I needed to loose weight anyway.

When you are on a very low calorie diet, your body goes in to starvation mode-which slows down your metabolism, making it hard for you to burn fat. Your body actually starts to store your fat instead of burn it because it doesn’t know when you will be feeding it next.

This is the problem with the slower metabolism, the muscle loss sucks too *pretends to have muscles to lose*

That's the real problem with your diet! you're going for dominos

Here the good stuff *stuffs papa john's stuffed crust pizza in your mouth.

After you finish that one try this

*Leaves a box of hungry howie's pizza with ranch flavored crust

That's not really how it works.

Your body has to consume stored energy to survive.  While metabolism may slow down, it won't be by as much as you would think.

I'm not saying that a starvation diet is the best diet, it's pretty bad actually.  But if you consume less then you burn, you will lose weight, plain and simple.

And even if you are doing nothing, due to us being warm blooded creatures, we consume a significant amount of calories just to stay alive.

Still though, i'm not starving myself.

even so, hungry howies has some good pizza.

      Now i'm hungry dangit
