  1. What can I do to fix HP's stupidity on this laptop? Does it have a 2.5" drive bay that i could put something in? HP Notebook - 14-an012nr (ENERGY STAR) That is the model. It has 32GB of storage, of which I can only use 7 because of system reserved and Windows.Old. I am trying to just use it to play GMOD on because it will be better than my 2011 MacBook Air with 4GB of RAM and a dual core i5 clocked at 1.5 GHz. But i go to join the server i want to play on and I have enough space to download most of the resources for the server, until I need to download the map, then it runs out. Can i put a 2.5 inch drive in this to fix this problem?
  2. I have an HP Beats 15 laptop and I NEVER use the DVD drive because its 2018. I am wondering what adapter I should use to get the most of the SATA III. Most of the ones I have seen look like the cover plate on my laptop wont fit. And I kinda want it to look nice. But I have also seen videos on people just taking a few screws out and then screwing the plate from the DVD drive onto the adapter. I am also worried to do this because I know HP does some custom things on their devices.
  3. Doesn't boot from CD rom

So I want to reinstall Windows but my laptop doesn't boot from CD ROM, I make first boot device CD ROM but it just keeps loading from HDD. Any ideas why? I can't turn on PC cuz of blue screen. PS I don't know if the CD ROM even works but it spins when I put a CD in it

I'm having problems playing a Blu-ray movie on a recently installed Blu-ray player inside a desktop, all I hear when I put in a disk is a Clicking noise. I don't know if in installed it correctly or it's not compatible. I have tried to play other types of DVDs, CDs and it works but not blue-ray Help will be appreciated, thanks. ----------------------------------------------------------- Specs HP Omni 120~1123w AMD Fusion E450 8Gb RAM And 1Tb Storage. 5. Hi All, I have a HP 15-bs028ne (Intel i7 7th Gen,8 GB DDR4 RAM, 1TB SSHD, 120GB SSD,2GB AMD Radeon 530 Graphics). This might not be the best one out thier for gaming, but it used to do its work correctly . Until recently (5 Weeks ago) my laptop started to Throttle itself while gaming . I use HW Monitor to keep a tab on my temps . At exactly when my laptop CPU (i7 7th Gen) reaches 95 Degress Celsius, both my CPU and GPU will stop working for a short period of time like (2 Seconds) i can see the graph drop and rise in Task Manager . I play Rainbow 6 Siege and my laptop has the recommended configrations, also (i upgraded to an SSD & SSHD ). While playng continuously for like 30 mins and the temps go to 95 degree, the game will freeze for some time and the then revert back to original state . I noticed this problem after the last 2 BIOS updates ( Maybe connected, Just assuming). I already tried HP's Solution for overheating https://support.hp.com/in-en/document/c01657439 I cleaned the fans and everything, but still no use . Installed HP CoolSense and figured out it does nothing . I did a Extensive Harware HP System Diagnostics Test, all PASSED without any problems . Fans seems to be running normally . Had a doubt on the Thermal Paste side, so went ahead and replaced it with a new one . Did not do any change .The problem still exist . Tried reinstalling Windows (v1803),changing HDD to SSD/SSHD, plugged in adapter, changed graphics settings .All availed no use . Temp : Normal Use (Browsing, etc) : 65 Degree Cold Boot :55 Degree Note : I am stuck with HP poor driver support for my Laptop . The drivers are so outdated that even while launching game, Ubisoft also tells me to update it . All latest updates are installed .My AMD drivers are made on 17/05/17 . Tried installing Official drivers from AMD website but turned out to be a disaster .Had to revert back to official HP drivers .HP really needs to update thier drivers regularly . I did a CPU + GPU stress test at the same time, which also resulted in the graph to fall (at 95 Degree). Same main issue that i have .Only CPU throttles itself down . Running CPU only / GPU only was fine . Found out some other useful info, i know it might sound ridiculous but it works . Removing the back case/base enclosure (Protection Plastic Case Underneath ) and keeping the down (the motherboard, etc)part on a flat table and then running all games and stress test resulted in no problems . I now think that lack of air flow might be the cause .I know this is little risky but still had to do it . Can anyone help me in solving this misery ? I cant game with this problem as each second is crusial while gaming .
  6. RX 460 in HP Pro 6300

I'm just wondering if I can put an RX 460 in my HP Pro 6300. I believe it just runs off the motherboard, but the recommended PSU for the RX 460 is 400W but the one in my system "should not exceed" 320. I'm wondering if I'd have better luck with a GTX 1050, however I'm on a really tight budget of $150 CAD. (I got the PC for $180 on Kijiji and I only have $150 for the graphics card, so that's why I'm looking for a used RX 460) Anyways, what I'm asking is, will a maximum 320W HP OEM PSU be enough for my RX 460 powered through the motherboard? The case is really bulky, so I won't have any problems fitting the card.
  7. Hi .. Just a question .. Can I upgrade my HP 8560w with gtx 980m .. And how ? and if I can't .. What is the best GPU for my laptop ?... Thanks anyway
  8. Hi guys, you have helped me in the past and i'm here again to ask for your help in buying a new thin and light or something along those lines. I have 70k indian rupees to spare (1000 usd give or take but laptops are pricey here so around 850-900 usd ) I require a laptop for basically productivity tasks like excel, skype, office and other business related stuff, a good screen as i will get bored mostly as i recently got into a management institute. the laptop can go over the current price range but i hope it doesnt. the laptop should have - 7th gen i7 or 8th gen i5 atleast 256gb ssd or more (and or) high capacity hdd great screen- 1080 p full hd IPS panel pls 8gb ram windows 10 it would not be a gaming laptop but a dedicated graphics can help. aso if intel hd graphics can run smoothly for 2 years without failing in the above tasks then im in. screen could be between 13 and 15, can be 15.6 but then it should be light. and should be lightweight- thats why im trying to rule out hp pavillion series and dell inspiron series but can come back to these options if nothing else comes out of this thread after some discussion ive finalised hp envy notebook, dell xps 13, and macbook air but i hope you guys can help with whether these are the right fit or not or can advise some other laptops . thank you guys in advance ...
  9. I have a strange problem with the battery in the HP Pavilion dv6500 laptop. Some days ago I got dv6700 with a damaged BGA so that I could descrew for fun. I noticed that there is a battery in it. So I put it into my DV6500. And here the problems began. Under linux, I normally charged it to around 70%. The next day, when I turned on the laptop, I had only 12%, where after a while there was an alert about low battery status. Now, when I started to test the battery under Windows, it loads very long and very strange. The program for monitoring the battery status says that the battery "disconnects" from charging every minute and starts charging again. Currently, about 7% charged for an hour and I do not know what may be the reason for such a slow charging. In addition, the same program claims that the battery has not been charged (battery cycle). I am adding 2 information screens, maybe it will give something. (battery is original)

  11. So my laptop broke, and it is time to get a new one. I have been looking around and stumble upon hp omen 17-an180no. With a i78750H and a1060. My question is that no othe producers seems to be able to deliver 1060 at that same price point. And I dont want to go higher than that. Where I live we only really have the option of hp, acer, asus and msi. So no need to recommend something else. Acer has the closest one but with a 1050ti and 8 gb ram not 16 Any advice would be helpful
  12. My parent's HP Probook G2 has been having connectivity issues with the display when it is opened or moved. Just a few minutes ago I had to open and close the display 5 or 6 times before the screen would display the desktop instead of grey vertical lines. I'm almost certain its not a driver issue as this only occurs when the laptop screen is physically moved relative to the body. I expect a bad connection or bad wire so I'm planning to disassemble it and examine the connection between the motherboard and the display. Any thoughts on this?
  13. I have a dell latitude e6430. It has a alps touch pad with dells touch pad drivers. I know you can get windows precision drivers on synaptic and elan touch pads but is it possible for alps touch pads.
  14. Laptop extremely slow

My laptop is really slow and can't do anything on it programs crash all the time and also I don't wanna reset it just mass clean it up and improve performance
  15. Can it be done? I doubt it can be done through the bios but can you use something like Throttlestop or other utilities to do so? I just got a HP ProLiant ML350 G6 for free and it can take upto a pair of Xeon X5675s and 196GB of DDR3 RDIMM. I'd like to build it up as a nice little video editing machine. I doubt I'll need THAT much ram but 16~32GB of ram ought to be enough. I haven't booted it up yet, working on cleaning out some of the other computers I got since I won't be able to do anything at the moment.
  16. As title says: I fixed a HP ML370 G5 server that I got for free when broken. (Mainly a broken PSU). It has two quad core CPUs (Quad-Core Intel® Xeon® Processor E5440 (2.83 GHz, 80 Watts, 1333 FSB), hyperthreaded so a total of 16 threads. 64GB ECC RAM. See this link for more info on hardware: https://h20195.www2.hpe.com/v2/Getdocument.aspx?docname=c04282493 So now what? If you had this computer, what would you do? I was thinking to maybe put a matlab compute node on it, as I do sometimes work in matlab for my research at the university. But I doubt that it will be of any gain since my main computer already has a 3.5GHz hexa core xeon E5. Note: I already have a hyper-visor server running for all my VMs (and has power to spare). I have a freenas running at home with mirrored disks and one similar server at a server hall as an offsite backup. I also have HP DL360 G5 that has the same story, got it for free broken, fixed it and now I don't know what to do with it... I guess I like fixing broken things. Any ideas are welcome! /Robert

  20. HP DL380 G7 HDD Compatibility

I recently acquired an HP DL380 G7 for use as a NAS and need hard drives. I've learned the hard way that servers are incredibly delicate about hardware compatibility so I am nervous about purchasing hard drives that may or may not be compatible. Currently I'm looking at getting WD Red or Seagate Ironwolf drives. Can anyone confirm that these drives are compatible with this server? I'm also looking for a 2U hotswap bay for 3.5in drives to replace the default 2.5in bays.

  22. Notebook PC wont shut off

So I had the Insyde F.53 bios installed and my laptop wouldn't shut off correctly (I would hit the windows key and select shutoff, my fans would go full speed and the power light would stay on until I hold it and shut it off manually). So I updated the bios to Insyde F.55 and I still have the problem. Should I go back to an earlier version of Insyde, if so, which version? 24. XW8600 Not posting

I have built a Linux server with Ubuntu on top of a XW8600 HP workstation. Dual Xeon E5430s, 16 Gigs of FB 667MHZ ram, a gt 710 graphic card, and a HP 1000 watt power supply .I have transferred it from the factory case to another one. Replace the in case cpu fan mounts with 6/32 motherboard stand offs. I transplanted the power button cable and everything else. Was working great until now. All I get is 5 beeps and a flashing red led over and over again. No video, all fans spin, all power connectors are in and I can't get anything. Is the board dead. I have taken out all the ram and reinstalled it one at a time. Remove the heat sinks and clean and reinstall those. Change graphics cards, tried it in different spots, clear the CMOS, and pulled my hair out!!!!! Is the board dead?
