    From the album My PC

my new motherboard, bought from amazon. Up and running, got it installed about a week ago.
  5. Okay, so i bought my computer when my knowledge about them was for from the point where i am at now, and now i have a problem with upgrading it. The model i bought back in 2013 is a medion akoya P5230 D and it has served me well for these past years. However, i hardly ever use it anymore and would like to turn it into a storage server. This server does not have to be on all the time but i need quite a lot of space (hobby videographer) and i would like to access them when i'm away. I already got a system set up for that on it now, but i would like to have the option of Wake On Lan, which my current motherboard (ms-7797) does not support. Since my cpu is still rocking (an i7-3770) i would like to replace just the motherboard (which is still hard to find because LGA1155 but that will be fine). The only problem i have now is that i only have a recovery disc that came with the pc and nothing else, like an activation code or sth. My pc came with an OEM version of windows 8, which was upgraded to 8.1 when it was available for free. This means i cannot do Sysprep with a generalized version of my windows install or something like that. I am reading on some websites that windows 8.1 oem systems allow for component swaps indefinetly (compared to windows 7 oem systems) and that i only have to delete my motherboard drivers beforehand. However, i also read on other websites that it is not possible at all. So can someone clarify for me wether it is possible for me to replace my motherboard without reinstalling windows? I am fine with reinstalling all of the programs i have on it now so no worries about keeping those during the swap.
  6. hello i have had my pc for a while but i have upgraded some of the parts and was working perfectly. last time i turned it off, later the next morning i notice that the acer logo that shows the ´´ press del to enter bios´´ went away laggy and slow part by part and then the computer just showed a line on top left without no error messages or computer beep but i notice that the graphic card fans didnt start but it was on and i couldnt acess bios or any boot option so i couldnt use the windows repair. first i thought it was the HDD so i used another HDD that i had and still the same problem and i also did a Ram check cause i had a spare and still same problem please help me i cant seem to find the problem. motherboard: Acer predator g3610 motherboard graphics card: gtx 1050ti Ram: Corsair Memory Value Select 2GB DDR3 1333 Mhz cpu: i5-2300 psu:cooler master 500w lite hdd: hdd 1tb western blue

  10. Hello, first of all I know that my computer is pretty old, but I mostly use it to play old games. Let's get to the problem. I have some issues with my psu, I have 3 psus, with first one I didn't have any problems my pc was running just fine, I could play all games and it was ok. With the second one my PC was turning off few seconds after I was starting new game in all games with 3D Graphics, and with the third one, my PC could only boot to Windows, the second I got into the desktop, it self turned off, and now it doesn't want to boot, I've checked the psu and without Motherboard it works just fine. I managed to "do" Something while i've put all the parts on my bed and i turned the power on, and it was running just fine, I was able to run games on it. It isn't an issue with the thermals because, the avarage thermals for my PC are 40C to 50C and I've putted new Thermal Paste on CPU, GPU. Fans for CPU and GPU are just running fine with one additional fan for the whole system. I've done some stress test to GPU and CPU and it didn't turn off. I've updated Bios and tried to lower the voltage but it didn't do any good at all. My Computer Spec's are: Motherboard: Gigabyte GA-MA770T-UD3P Processor: AMD Athlon X2 250 3.0ghz Dual-Core GPU: Nvidia GeForce GTS 450 RAM: GoodRam 8GB 1333mhz DDR3 HDD: Seagate 320GB *Windows 10 Dual-Boot with Win 7 First PSU: Akyga AK B1-400S - 400W Second PSU: Modecom 1 500ATX - 500W Third PSU: Aero Cool VX-450 - 450W My Power Consumption is 350W

I'm looking to get an AMD Ryzen 7 2700X Is this the best way to go or is their other options
  13. As the title says I'm upgrading my PC and I'm looking for opinions on the motherboard. The CPU is going to be a AMD Ryzen 7 1700x. The chip set I'm looking at is AMD X370. My price range is anywhere in the $100 - $300 (CAD)/ $80 - $235 (USD) area.
  14. I'm looking to upgrade my computer sometime soon. I'm trying to decide on a motherboard and have chosen to go with one of the Gigabyte X470 series motherboards. I'm currently a bit stuck on a decision on which one though. I've found two that are both of interest (the X470 AORUS Ultra Gaming and the X470 AORUS Gaming 7 WiFi) however beyond one having WiFi connectivity I'm not sure why the differences really are. If it is just that one has WiFi then I'd prefer to go with the cheaper board, but I don't want to go with that decision to realise the more expensive one had more features. Both boards are linked below: AORUS Ultra Gaming: https://amazon.co.uk/gp/aw/d/B07CG3XJ6F/ref=ox_sc_act_image_2?smid=AUWMZRMCN1SVB&psc=1 AORUS Gaming 7 WiFi: https://amazon.co.uk/gp/aw/d/B07BXQHGVY/ref=ox_sc_act_image_3?smid=A3P5ROKL5A1OLE&psc=1 If someone could give me a hand with this it would be much appreciated!

  17. So I had bought an fx 8350 black edition processor and my old mother board (also used am3+) isn't working with it so does anyone have any good full atx mother board ideas
  18. So not even a week since i bought my new mobo and i am having overheating issue with it's chipset / southbridge. The heatsink shown in the image right under gpu is what seems to be overheating. It's really a bit hot to touch. My CPU and GPU temps seem fine but in HW Monitor, it says TMPIN6/8 reaching well over 100C. 117C and 108C for both respectively. I am really worried if it might blow my motherboard or it would just simply fail. All these at idle, i am worried if i run anything intensive my pc would just die. My mobo is Asus H61M-K which i bought from Amazon, never had this issue with my 3 boards that i used previously. Any Help Appreciated.
  19. I'm looking for a well equipped atx mobo for am4 ryzen 1700 I my budget for a board is now 300 Canadian I decided to switch to a atx size case for extra features since micro atx didn't have what I needed please keep asrock and biostar off the list of recommendations
  20. I'm in the process of planning my next build. I'm stuck with the Gigabyte z370 Aorus Gaming 7 as I am returning to PC's after 8 years of doing all my creative work (music production, graphic design, 3d rendering) on Mac's, and the Gigabyte Aorus Gaming 7 is one of the only boards that support thunderbolt 3 and a hackintosh build easily. My issue is, according to the official memory compatibility, it only supports 32gb of ram in an 8gb x 4 configuration, however I can foresee myself needing 64gb of ram. Does anyone have this motherboard and have positive results running 32gb DDR4-3200 in a 2 x 16gb stick configuration (preferably with CAS 14 timings)?
  21. Hello, I just wanted to install my mobo. I installed the I/O shield first and now when I set the mobo in, I have to press it tightly towards the I/O shield in order to align them with the pre-mounted standoffs for ATX (my board has SSI-CEB, but the same mounting holes like ATX). Is this a normal behaviour to install the mobo under pressure towards the I/O shield?
  22. Hi everyone. I am building a Ryzen build on the X470 motherboard from Gigabyte, specifically the Gigabyte Aorus X470 Gaming 5 Wifi. I have purchased 2 sticks of 8GB 3000Mhz RAM and I was reading their manual and was confused about which slots are the default channels I need to populate. Is it Channel A or B? or is it slot 1,3 or 2,4 or am I just wrong about this in general? Any help is appreciated! My RAM isn't here but I figured reading all the manuals on my motherboard, case, Power supply etc ahead of time would help the building process along. Thanks!
  23. Looking into building a new system. Here's what need from it. High performance, future proof for 7 year or more Looking to spend under $1400 cheaper the better,(I only need a CPU Mobo and GPU and Maybe a PSU) have all the other stuff. Most chances will overclock in the future. Usage is for everyday use, gaming, school, work. no streaming, but maybe a little video or Photoshop work/rendering once in a blue moon. Card - Most chances GTX 1080 CPU- Intel i7 8700k vs 7700k Or AMD Ryzen 7 2700x vs 7 1800x or any better Mobo - Don't know yet still picking a Chip, but recommend one. I upgrading from a OC FX-6300 and GTX 760 AMP. Not sure how this system is still working well, butter its time for a change. So I am spending once crying once. Leave me recommendation and feed back on what setup I should go with, Thanks!

  25. Posted Saturday at 08:44 PM · Original Poster Good evening to all the tech and Windows gurus out there! I really really need some help from you guys. I'm going to be as thorough as possible so please bear with me. This may be a lengthy post. It's been roughly seven years since I last built a PC and my wife and I decided to both invest in new hardware. I've just recently completed building two new systems, one for myself, and one for my wife. The specifics of each system is as follows... My PC: Ryzen 5 2400g w/ Integrated Vega graphics 16gb Corsair Vengeance DDR4 3000mhz RAM 250gb Sandisk SSD Plus Gigabyte GA-AB350 Gaming 3 motherboard Cooler Master MasterWatt 550W power supply Wife's PC: Ryzen 5 2400g w/ integrated Vega graphics 16gb Corsair Vengeance DDR4 3000mhz RAM 250 GB Sandisk SSD Plus 1TB WD Caviar Blue HDD Gigabyte GA-AB350 Gaming Motherboard (not the Gaming 3 version like mine) Cooler Master MasterWatt 550W power supply As you can see both of the systems are virtually the same. Thanks to the inflated graphics card prices going on today I decided to utilize the new Ryzen APU's until I can afford to snatch up a couple of GTX 1060's (or better if found at reasonable prices). I installed Windows 10 Pro on both machines, and updated to the drivers found on Gigabyte's website. Prepping the motherboards for the new Ryzen processor was a task all in itself as AMD had to send me a bootkit so that I could flash the outdated BIOS each motherboard had shipped with. Once done, I installed the very few games we like to play such as Sims 4 and a few indie titles. My wife's system seems to be running just fine. She has Windows 10 Pro build 1709 (she hasn't updated to 1803). She is also utilizing the updated AMD drivers that Windows automatically installed once I had finished installing Windows. Here is where things start to get interesting and the reason for this post. My system was running pretty well until I noticed some issues with my RAM. After running MemTest on the RAM I found one of the sticks to be faulty and sent them back to have them replaced. I received the new kit and installed it as normal in DIMM slots 1 and 3. I started the computer and proceeded to update my version of Windows to build 1803. Within a few hours I started to get BSOD's regarding VIDEO_DR_FAILURE (ATIKMPAG.SYS). I went ahead and reverted my AMD drivers back to an earlier version and rebooted. This didn't help at all. I then proceeded to uninstall the AMD drivers completely through DDU Uninstaller in safe mode, relying solely upon the Windows Basic Display Adapter drivers. While this did seem to stop any BSOD errors, I can no longer hear any sound from my HDMI monitor speakers. Games are also nearly unplayable, even on the lowest graphics settings (think trying to play them on a 90's Dell Dimension with integrated graphics). Also, the ability to put the PC into sleep mode goes away whenever I don't have the AMD drivers installed. I proceeded to contact AMD about this issue, and after a few days they emailed me with a link to the newest AMD driver, released May 17th 2018 (link listed below). That driver malfunctioned as well. The error is always the same, and will happen at random times. Sometimes it will happen right as the PC is booting up. Sometimes it will do it within a few minutes of startup as I try to load a webpage. A few times it has acted like it is behaving itself and will do it after an hour or so. I've also done the following... ~Changed RAM sticks around from DIMM slots 1 & 3 to slots 2 & 4 (still get same BSOD) ~Reverted BIOS on motherboard to same one my wife is using (still get same BSOD) ~Tried several AMD drivers, including the one my wife is using as well as the brand new one (still get same BSOD) ~Ran MemTest64 - no RAM issues Finally, today, I contacted Microsoft Technical support via chat and they suggested I revert my build of Windows to version 1709 (same as the one my wife is currently using). That made total sense, so I wiped my drive clean and installed fresh version of Windows 10 pro Version 1709. Once installed, Windows proceeded to install the AMD drivers. I thought that it would FINALLY work. However, my elation was short lived. The machine BSOD'd less than 10 mintues after installing Windows and the AMD drivers. Mind you these are the same drivers my wife's PC is using. I have come to my wit's end with this issue. The only time it seems to be stable is when I am running Windows Basic Display Adapter, which is great if I want no sound and do not desire to play any games. The minute I install ANY AMD drivers the PC will BSOD on me again, with the same error as always. Can anyone out there please please please help me out here. I don't know if I am facing a software or hardware issue. I'd like to think that all of my components are running great as everything is brand new. I just do not know what is conflicting with the ATIKMPAG.SYS file. I cannot figure this out and have tried everything I can think of. Any help or ideas you guys and girls can provide would be greatly appreciated. AMD driver release 17May2018 https://support.amd.com/en-us/kb-articles/Pages/Radeon-Software-Adrenalin-Edition-Q2-2018-Release-Notes.aspx Thank you in advance... ***NOTE*** Just out of curiosity I removed one of the RAM modules and booted the system up. The system is running flawlessly without a single BSOD. It makes absolutely no sense as to why it won't operate with two modules. I have tested the RAM with MemTest 86, with one test running over 16hrs, with no faults. If anyone can help me out here I'd be forever grateful.
