  1. Hi, Recently i have started to use my Nexus 9 again and i seem to have problems with its charging. For some reason i can only charge when the tablet is turned off. When its on it has recognised that it is connected to a charger but it does not charge. I can see the battery life slowly going down when it says its connected. I currently haven't used it for about two years but wanted to switch back to android. Hoping any of you can help me out Many thanks
  2. Hey, me again, can someone suggest to me a laptop that's around $350 (Hopefully much less) that will allow me to download Krita software and the like for digitally drawing with a 13 inch Wacom Cintiq Pro? I would really like one to use in school when I don't have time elsewhere. The only thing that really matters would be a color accurate screen (maybe IPS) ((but even then, the tablet I have has a screen)) and -- most importantly -- enough processing power to keep up with my brush strokes so they don't lag too much behind the pen. Oh, and I should add that I don't want anything related to Apple. As if they could make a $350 laptop anyway lol.
  3. my old tablet recently broke so i am looking into buying a new one and i am wondering if the tablets i am looking at are any good (and if you know a better model for a reasonable price let me know) the 2 models i am looking at are Huawei Mediapad M3 lite 8" https://newegg.ca/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16834324025 and Huawei Mediapad T3 8" https://newegg.ca/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16834324023 i am wondering if they are worth it (is it worth getting the more expensive M3 lite 8" or is the cheaper T3 8" just as good) and i have a question about the model sold on newegg.ca (links above) do they have a MicroSD card slot (this is necessary due to them having only 16gb of internal storage)
  4. hey, i'm looking for a tablet under 300$ that's 8" or more, any suggestions?
  5. What is the prime reason of the reducing demand of tablets? I am not talking about from any biasness. Just a casual conversation. It is the 2-in-1 laptops or bigger screen cellphones?
  6. Tablets Under 100 USD

  7. Hey guys! I looked for a thread like that but couldn't find it. I was recently looking for some game to play on my Android tablet. I own Samsung Galaxy Tab Pro 10.1. I figured there should be a place to make some suggestions and list your favourites. My favourite types of games for tablet were usually simulation ones. But my all time favourite is Badland. Anyone played it? It's awesome!!! Here's Badland trailer https://youtube.com/watch?v=_kQInAlUs7E I'm looking forward to your suggestions!
  8. Yoga Tab 3 help

Hi. My sister bought a Yoga Tab 3 a few months back and it was working brilliantly up to recently. One morning she turned it on to find that it was going to the lock screen and then the screen turned black and then to the lock screen again. It was stuck in a loop and when I say screen turned black, I could tell the display was still on and that it wasn't off. I had a look at it and tried rebooting it by powering off and on again as well as hitting the reboot button. I had an old phone that ran android 4.2. When it went bad I held down the power button and volume buttons for about 5 seconds and I could do a hard reboot. Would you guys recommend doing the same on this? Bearing in mind it's still within the warranty period. Any ideas on how to fix this and prevent it from happening in future? TIA
  9. Sup folks, I'm looking to buy myself a cheap compact tablet for on the go, say using it whilst traveling. I've found a couple of nice ones but I'd like to hear your thoughts on what you think of my choice and or other suggestions. What are my needs? - It needs to be compact enough for me to be able to take it with me easily - It needs to be good enough for video playback, such as Netflix and YouTube (basic web browsing as well) - It needs to have a good battery life (optional) Currently I've got my eyes on the Samsung Galaxy Tab A 7.0 (2016) What are your thoughts/suggestions? Thanks in advance, Cheers, TJ
  10. So I was wondering everywhere I look I find third party shield tablets for 300 to 400 new, but I can't find them for 200 dollars like on the Nvidia site. They have been out of stock for a while and I can't find anything useful online. Are they discontinued or just on a temporary hiatus?
  11. Need access to an admin account?

Hello, wonderful people of Linus Tech Tips forums! I recently purchased a Nextbook 10.1 from a second-hand shop it was originally a display model from a Walmart. However, the issue I am encountering is due to it being a display model all admin abilities are locked behind an admin account that is password protected!Sadly they did not provide me with the password for said admin account.I do have access to a local account which gives me the abilities to do basic things, however, installing programs is out of the question on this account. So is there any way I can get into the admin account or possibly gain admin rights somehow? 13. Hello everyone, I'm thinking of buying this Tablet for myself. I plan on using it mainly for reading manga, web browsing and social media stalking. I needed the screen to be big and has a lot of space or has and SD card expansion. However as i read through the specs under storage it says "can be upgraded with up to 32GB of micro-SD card for file storage", why cant it only be upgraded up to 32gb? is there anything on this tablet that's stopping me from upgrading it with a 64gb or even a 128gb of micro-SD card?
  14. Hello, guys. I'm on the market for tablet. After dozens of reviews can't make a dessicion which tablet will suit me the best. According to reviews, which I show below, Sasmsung Tablets are the best (of course, I don't talk about IPad). but: Samsung Galaxy Tab S2 or Samsung Galaxy Note Pro 12.2 Tablet? Does the 1st model supports usb otg? Can you read this outdoors in the sunlight? Can microsoft office run on this tablet? Is it possible to have the hand-written text (with the stylus), be converted into any kind of text in a word processor? Any advice will be pretty appreciated, thanks in advance! 15. I usually try to avoid buying the latest and greatest technological thing that's "in". Like when smart watches were all the rage last year, I avoided them. When the iPad came out, I saw it more as a novelty. I avoided wireless things, since I didn't want to deal with charging them up and such. But all that's changed, since now I've owned these kinds of products (well, except the iPad). So here are my thoughts about the gadgets I've purchased over the years, and whether or not they're still important to me now or not. Since there's a broad range of "gadgets" I can cover, I'm going to limit this to either portable devices or small knick knacks (game systems not included because I'm a gamer so of course I have them :D). 1. Laptop I got my first laptop in 2008, a Dell Inspiron 15 whatever number that was. I purchased it for school since I somehow got a grant in the middle of the semester so 1. I had nothing else to buy for the semester and 2. it's a school grant, why not get a laptop? It was that year I did discover the joy of having a portable computer to lug around winter and summer break. Two years later I passed it on to my dad and replaced it with one from ASUS that I'd say is one of the first "ultrabooks", since it was smaller (13") and lasted a ridiculously long time (12 hours). The next one after that was a Dell XPS 15z, which I thought was a great laptop, but it died two years later. I lulled around for a few months without a laptop since I didn't really need one at the time... until I decided to get a gaming laptop, an ASUS one. At first it was nice to have a gaming computer to take around with me since my desktop at the time was a pretty large beast that was awkward to carry. Then, I decided to sell it and get a Dell XPS 13, which at first I enjoyed, but I really wanted gaming performance and then finally settled down to my current one, a Dell Inspiron 15 7559 (I sold the XPS 13). So after all this, I'm finding that my sweet spot size is 15". The gaming laptop was starting to be come inconveniently large. 13" is too small. And since I'm still a gamer, I want something that has graphical chops to it. It doesn't have to be amazing, but anything's better than Intel's iGPUs. 2. Smartphone My first smartphone was the original Motorola Droid back in 2010. And I still have a smartphone. So I think there's a no brainer about the impact this device had on me. The first feature that smartphones struck out at me that I found useful was Google Maps and navigation. Funnily enough, when I got the Droid, I was about 6 months in my first car too, so it was pretty handy to have that feature. Eventually being able to surf the internet and use apps caught on. The Droid was replaced with an LG Spectrum, then a Motorola Moto X, and now an LG G4. Since I seem to have this Motorola-LG-Motorola-LG pattern (actually, the phone I had before the Droid was an LG phone), chances are my next phone's going to be a Motorola one :3 My usage hasn't really expanded much from how I used smartphones from the start. I don't watch YouTube all that much. I don't stream from internet radios. In fact, I like to not use my phone as much as possible... except if I'm standing around then I'll probably poke on the internet and Skype. However my phone has become my camera, so that's been my biggest desire when looking at phones. I haven't really been worried about the size, but I do like 5" phones. 3. A Camera I did buy a digital camera back in 2011 or so, probably the equivalent of a Canon P&S, but with an optical zoom. It used AA batteries which I thought was a useful feature (I bought rechargables for them). It also didn't get much use. I found my phone more than adequate for the task, even if it took a long time for the quality to catch up. 4. Tablet The first tablet I purchased was an ASUS Transformer Infinity (TF700T) back in 2012. When my XPS 15z kicked the bucket, I started using this as a sort of replacement, but then I soon realized Android has its problems. So slowly it started losing its use and I eventually sold it in 2014. However in that year I decided on another tablet, an ASUS T100, the Windows based tablet. This was during the time I had a gaming laptop, so it was to work as a more portable computer if I wanted it than the laptop. It did see quite a bit of use at first, but it lost its purpose once I got the XPS 13 and I sold it last year. But I wasn't quite ready to toss the hat in for tablets. I purchased one more earlier this year: an NVIDIA Shield K1. And I think this cemented what I like about a tablet. It's 8" is nice to hold and it's still workable. I use it mostly for a watching movies, either from YouTube or what's on my media server. It's actually getting a lot more use than the other tablets I have. 5. Raspberry Pi/STM32L Discovery ("project" boards) I bought a RasPi in 2013 as a curiosity. I tinkered with it for maybe a few days but that was it. I wanted something like a small Linux machine. The most use it got was later that year when I was working as a contractor and the system on a board we were using pooped out. So I brought in the RasPi as a replacement. Not only were we back on track within a day, the fact that it worked as well if not better for $30 instead of the $150 the project board cost saved the thing we were working on. I also bought an STM32L which is a more basic version of RasPi. It's more like a semi-advanced Arduino. It was for a silly project that I wanted to work on that lasted about a month before I got bored of it. Both boards haven't received much love for at least a year. I'm probably going to keep the RasPi but at work and I'm going to toss the STM32L. Project boards like these probably aren't my thing. 6. Smart Watch Well, something smart watch like... I bought a Fitbit Blaze a couple of months ago since I was looking at getting a fitness tracker for a while. Part of me felt like I was going to use it for a month, then go "eh, whatever" and not care about it. Well, I'm still wearing it and one of the things I love about it versus an actual smart watch is it lasts a long time. I clocked in at 5 and a half days before plugging it in, but it didn't actually die, it was just running on fumes.
  16. Just wondering if anyone would be able to recommend good tablets for going back to university? I'm studying English Literature and need something that I'll be able to write essays on. Don't really need it for anything other than typing, I just want something reliable with a decent battery life. Don't mind if the keyboard has to be bought separately either. Any recommendations would be appreciated. Thanks!
  17. These days tablets normally come in two groups 1.cheap, and horrible specs or 2.expensive, everything you need and more. but i was wondering, if there are any tablets that are budget, but yet has your moneys worth. e.g. (Nexus 2013 ) . plz help me!!!
  18. Isn't it? I mean, Windows 8 had 3 distinct versions, phone, RT and Desktop. Windows 10 just kinda has phone and desktop, which is great, in theory, but, i'm fairly sure not ALL Windows 10 devices are compatible with desktop programs, so it's just kinda confusing. I was looking at Windows 10 tablets, and the price ranges and why not vary greatly from one to another, but it's kinda hard to assess them properly because there isn't a quick way to check which ones can or can't run desktop programs or just Windows Store apps. Maybe i'm completely wrong and if so do let me know, but at least I think that's how it works. You'll think I should check the specs for that, but you know, now we have Intel making mobile CPUs on a completely different line that can still run desktop programs. So overall, I just wanted to complain. Maybe get some tips as to how you can tell one from the other, or if there even is a difference.
  19. So I buy a load of vape related shit off of FastTech, they also sell millions of items you don't need but I buy anyway. They've been stocking up on their Windows 10 based tablets, I'd go for a 10.1. The specs are as followed; 1920*1200 (Capacitive IPS) Quad Core Intel Atom X5-Z8300 1.44ghz with 1.8ghz "Burst" 4GB RAM Dual boot Android 5 with W10 Home I'd use it for day to day stuff, but my main interest is to use software for my camera called digiCamControl. It basically enables me to control my camera settings on a touch screen device with a USB cable (Also live view works and you'd be able to double tap on a spot to AF) (Limited to USB FPS so the live view is around 10fps but I wouldn't be using this as a field monitor, only as a framing and crop reference) Here's a screenshot of the software This is also the CPU and RAM usage of the software on a 9590 with 8GB Is it going to be shite? Think it could handle this software? Link to tablet: https://fasttech.com/products/0/10019313/4036300-cube-iwork-10-10-1-fhd-quad-core-windows-10 Might not be that exact one, but will have very similar if not exact specs

  21. Good graphics tablet for beginner?

Hi all, I am looking for some advice before buying a graphics tablet for use with Adobe Illustrator CC on Win 10. Does anyone have suggestions? I have been looking at models from Wacom and Huion and i am now perplexed with the differing options available. I am not a professional graphic artist just an amateur wanting to expand his horizons, so to speak. Budget is around £300 (British Pounds) Any ideas? Thanks in advance
  22. Android tablets destroying wifi?

Hi, Today I was experiencing some pretty horrendous wifi speeds, I noticed that whenever my sister got off her Samsung galaxy tab that it was back to full speed almost instantly. Usually we can have 6-7 devices on the wifi with no problems, but this one tablet just bombs the entire connection for all the other devices. She wasn't even streaming video or surfing the web or anything! It seems just the tablet being on is enough to destroy the connection. To test this i joined a league of legends game and told my sister to get on her tablet, my ping was 1200ms. Shortly afterwards I told her to get off and within a few seconds my ping was at a constant 40ms. Please help me solve this issue, its driving me insane.
  23. This is just a fun little discussion I wanted to start because I'm curious to see what electronics other people have built or fixed recently. You could also explain how you fixed or built something so other people who might be having the same problem can learn how to do it. I'll go first: The most recent thing I fixed (5 hours ago) was an iPod Touch 5th Generation headphone jack. The person said the sound kept going in and out everytime they plugged in their headphones, and the cable was loose. I figured that the locking switches inside the jack were stuck, so I got them unstuck by wiggling the headphone plug around back-and-forth, and then cleaned out the inside with 91% isopropyl alcohol and a lint-free cloth, and it worked!
  24. Laptop Suggestions

Hi, Currently have and iPad and an old lenovo laptop that is starting to die. In the market for a good reliable laptop and the budget tops out at $1000. I'm not sure if I should get just a laptop, tablet, or both. Maybe even a 2-in-1. Any suggestions on any of these would be great. Needed Specs: Core i5 500-1000 Gb 8 Gb ram Thanks
  25. so i got my nook hd+ (the 9" full HD screen one) for a while now but the battery is kicking the bucket (charge it fully after few minutes of use just shows 1% until it decides to turn off entirely...) and replacement battery costs 13£, now I'm not very good at magical pixie compatibility, but i thought, if the battery is same voltage rating, it should work if i replace with one from a different device? as far as i can tell it would report wrong battery capacity cause probably it uses some different protocol to report battery/voltage remaining? was thinking of grabbing a battery from a different device, maybe a higher capacity one and mcguiver'in it in there, would probably be cheaper and last longer, as only ones on ebay are used ones, which means they'll fail really really soon either way, due to the nature my battery seemed to fail (sudden and conclusive) versus the more gradual decrease in capacity... so i'd like to check with people who posses more knowledge in the art of pixie taming if i need to purchase exact one made for the tablet, or would any work with similar battery charging or lack of circuitry? replacing the whole tablet seems like an awful shame as the screen is really good and albeit slow it can display full HD movies no problem, satisfying my tablet needs....
