ECC Ram on x58 pro-e

Recommended Posts

Hey guys, i have a little question. As everybody knows ram prices are currently high af but i wanted to upgrade my 6gb to min. 16 so i searched on ebay and found this.

The thing is, its ecc ram. My board is an msi x58 pro-e and my cpu a5649(supports ecc) msi says nothing about ecc ram in this board so i don´t know if it would work. Also

some people say that ecc sometimes works on consumer platforms and others say thats it´s a completly different socket. Does anybody know if this kit will work in my machine?

You can't use ECC Registered memory on any X58 board. Normal non-registered ECC memory should work but those usually cost the same as a non-ecc ram.

Yes. R means it's registered.

U = normal non-ECC non-registered

E = ECC non-registered

R = ECC Registered
